Glyquin (now sold as Glyquin XM - a new and improved version of the old Glyquin) Description:
No prescription is required for this product in Canada.

New Glyquin XM is the same as Glyquin but adds the benefits of Vitamin C and E, as well as hyaluronic acid and other moisturizers.

Skin bleaching moisturizing cream.

Ingredients: Hydroquinone cream USP 4%, AHA 10%, Vitamin C+E, SPF 15

What is Glyquin?

In simple terms, GLYQUIN is a cream that is designed to slowly bleach hyperpigmented skin conditions. When too much melanin (the pigment portion of skin) is produced as a result of sun exposure, for example this can lead to hyperpigmentation or overly pigmented patches of skin. Hydroquinone, an active ingredient in GLYQUIN, works by inhibiting the production of melanin. Glycolic acid was added to increase the penetration and efficacy of hydroquinone. The quintessential hydroquinone also includes vitamins C and E, which, when used together with hydroquinone and glycolic acid, may function by reducing sun-induced free radicals. GLYQUIN also includes broad-spectrum sunscreens to help prevent repigmenting (or tanning) skin.

GLYQUIN contains several ingredients. Let’s look at these ingredients one by one to see how they work together to help give you that GLYQUINtessential look.

4% hydroquinone
Hydroquinone works by inhibiting the production of melanin, the pigment portion of skin. When too much melanin is produced as a result of sun exposure, for example this can lead to hyperpigmentation or overly pigmented patches of skin.

10% glycolic acid
Glycolic acid is a natural exfoliator. It helps the skin shed its outermost layer of hyperpigmented skin cells more rapidly. While other prescription-strength hydroquinone products contain this ingredient, their percentage of glycolic acid is lower than the amount found in GLYQUIN. It’s important to note that the exfoliating action of glycolic acid also may help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and Vitamin E (tocopherol)
These two vitamins provide your skin with much needed antioxidant protection. This helps defend your skin against future damage caused by the sun, pollution, and other environmental toxins. It also helps lessen the visible signs of aging.

Broad-spectrum sunscreens with SPF 15 We all know about the sun’s damaging effects to our skin. It;s a primary cause of hyperpigmentation. What you may not know is that GLYQUIN contains the sun protection you need to guard against both UVA and UVB rays. This is especially important to people who are using hydroquinone therapy. After all, why bother bleaching those hyperpigmented cells if you’re only going to repigment them through repeated sun exposure?

As you can see, GLYQUIN contains the essentials that your skin needs to get and keep that GLYQUINtessential look. It’s also the reason we think it’s the quintessential hydroquinone and why we think you will, too.

How Is GLYQUIN (Hydroquinone USP, 4%) Used?

GLYQUIN should be applied to the affected areas twice daily or as directed by your doctor. You can use GLYQUIN on your hands, chest, back wherever you have hyperpigmented skin. Be sure to rub GLYQUIN in well. If your doctor has recommended that you use other skin care products in addition to GLYQUIN, please wait 20 minutes before applying them. This will help ensure that GLYQUIN is properly absorbed and will not be rubbed off.

Are There People Who Should Not Use GLYQUIN (Hydroquinone USP, 4%)?

People who have a history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to any of its ingredients should not use GLYQUIN. The safety of topical hydroquinone use during pregnancy or in children (12 years and under) has not been established. As a result, GLYQUIN should only be used in pregnant women when prescribed by a doctor. It is also not known whether topical hydroquinone is absorbed or excreted in human milk. Therefore, caution is advised when used by a nursing mother.
